West Yorkshire County Scout Council, invite you to join in their Annual Survival Skills event to be held at Blackhills Campsite, OS Sheet 104, Grid Reference 100 373, over the weekend Friday 14th to Sun 16th July 2017.
Entries are invited on the basis of teams of three or more Explorer Scouts/Scouts/Guides. One or more teams can be entered, individual entrants will be accepted on the understanding that, they will be formed into composite teams for the duration of the camp. The syllabus includes activities, which will enable participants to be assessed for Survival Skills Part 2 (Scouts), Survival Award (Guides), Camp cook, Craft and Entertainers Badges. Previous training / experience is essential; this camp is unsuitable for first time / inexperienced campers.
The camp programme is designed, to teach skills that would be needed in real life survival situations and as such, at times may involve the preparation of live Game, Wildlife, Insects and Fish. It is stressed that these activities are purely voluntary.
In addition all participants are required to build and live in survival shelters and to cook all meals over open fires, without utensils, for the duration of the camp.
A limited number of places are available for those wishing to take their instructor award.
Unfortunately, it has become necessary to implement a cut-off date, due to Scouters arriving on site who have not been booked on and therefore not catered for. The cut-off date for accepting bookings is Friday 23rd June. Please do not arrive on site if your booking is not confirmed with Bradley Woods, there will be no exceptions.
