On the 14th October members from across the County came together to present over 70 top awards at Bradford Cathedral.
County Awards 2017 celebrated the achievements of our young people with presentation’s of the Chief Scout’s Awards, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and the highest award, the Queen’s Scout by Mark Tarry, Deputy UK Chief Commissioner.
The Young Leaders Scheme, which aims to develop the leadership skills of your Explorer Scouts was also recognised with certificates for the completion of the scheme being awarded by the the Deputy UK Chief Commissioner.
A special award, The Gilt Cross was also awarded to a young person for their gallantry in circumstances of risk.
Fiona Taylor and Vicky Caine, both members of the Scout Network hosted the evening with true professionalism.
Vicky Caine commented “Had a fantastic evening at the West Yorkshire Scouts award ceremony. Well done to everyone who received an award.”
Mark Stageman, County Commissioner, commented “It was a great evening for Scouting here in our County. Most importantly, it was a wonderful way to celebrate the achievements of our young people. After all, that’s why we do it – something rightly special to recognise their achievements.”
