This year HM Queen, patron of The Scout Association, on her 90th Birthday has recognised the excellent work by adults in West Yorkshire.
It is with great pride and pleasure that congratulation’s go to Scout Leader David ‘Midge; Bentley, who has been recognised in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours list , with the award of The British Empire Medal for his 52 years Service to Scouting and Keith Sykes from Huddersfield South West who was also awarded the British Empire Medal as well.
The year has also seen recognition of the dedication and commitment of many more of our adults in the county with the presentation of many awards as part of the St Georges Day Awards.
The county has also acknowledged the tremendous work that others give to the county with Halifax District Scouts presenting Ian Large of Marshalls with a Silver Scout Thank You Badge and a bottle of champagne as a thank you for driving the Gala float for the last 30 years or so. Ian who is employed by Marshalls Paving has volunteered to drive the wagon donated by Marshalls every year for the scouts in the Halifax Gala Procession. He is planning to retire this year as he is expecting become a granddad in the near future
This year was a float celebrating 100 years of Cub Scouting and 30 Years of Beaver Scouts. Over 30 children rode on the float which was masterminded for Halifax District by leaders from the 52nd Christ Church group. The District ran a crate stacking stall on the gala field which proved as popular as ever.

The year will conclude with the County Awards Ceremony at Bradford Cathedral, a chance for the whole county to recognise the achievements of our young people as they are presented with their Chief Scouts Awards, Young Leader Awards and culminating in the presentation of the Queens Scout Awards.
