Other Explorer Events around the country
Keep an eye on this section for links to events that your Explorer Scouts might be interested in attending!
Explorer Belt Award
The Explorer Belt is a challenge of a lifetime. It is a chance to take part in a ten day expedition that brings you a real understanding of a different country, its culture and way of life. You will develop this understanding by travelling through your chosen country, working as part of a small team to complete a series of projects and most importantly by meeting local people. It is an experience and an achievement that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Bradley Wood Volunteering
Bradley Wood Service Team
Being a member of the volunteer Service Team at Bradley Wood can not only cover off many of the “Service” and “Residential” elements of your Scouting Awards, but it can also be very beneficial for your CV. Working as a member of the Service Team can develop you in a number of ways. You can learn a whole host of new skills from various elements of running a busy campsite and customer service to activity instruction, woodland management and repairs / maintenance of the site… not to mention team work and meeting lots of new friends!
Many people join the Team from around the County, it is a great way to meet new people and develop your social skills. If you would like more details on how you can get involved, please contact David Gill at Bradley Wood through the website or call 01484 715858.
Duke of Edinburgh Diamond Challenge
Aged 14 to 24? Do your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is all about going the extra mile – gaining new skills, pushing yourself physically, helping others and exploring new territories. At the same time, you’ll gather friendships, experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, as long as you’re 14 to 24, you can choose the activities that motivate you and go on your own personal journey. We know from other participants that the DofE helps you stand out from the crowd when you apply for college, university or jobs. Ready to find out what the DofE could do for you? Visit the website to find out more about the award. If you are doing your award through Scouting, remember that it runs parallel to the Chief Scout’s and Queen’s Scout Awards… so please speak to your leaders about how you can complete the award or contact your County D of E advisor by e-mailing email@example.com
Could you be an Olympic Champion?!
We have had a brilliant Olympics with Team GB winning a lot of medals! A lot of the athletes who have taken part in the games are ex – Scouts and some even say that they have learnt their skills whilst they were a Scout!
Did you know that there are 42 Olympic sports? Check out how many of them can be done in Scouting!
Speak to your Leader about how you can get involved or check out the activities pages of the County Website to see how you can get involved!… Maybe we will see some of you in Tokyo?
Who can help me locally?
For local information please contact your District Scout Network unit. If a unit hasn’t started in your District yet or you aren’t sure contact Gaz, Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Explorer Scouts.
Do you have a district event that you would like to advertise to other Explorer Units around the County? Or maybe your Unit are doing an activity that you would like to get additional numbers for? Please send the event info using the form below and we will arrange for it to go onto this site!
