What do Networks do exactly?

Put simply, anything they want! Networks are involved in activities as wide ranging as kayaking, rock climbing, water skiing, international projects in places as inspiring as Chile, Libya and Italy, work with young people and help within the local community... the list of activities, projects and events is almost endless. You can also take part in the Duke of Edinburgh as well as Scout Awards. By joining Scout Network a whole world of opportunity opens up to you. What you and your Network do is up to you.

Can I be a member of Network?

If you are aged between 18–25 then yes, of course you can! Some Network members will also be Leaders, Assistants or part of their local Scout Fellowship. Others will never have been involved in Scouting before – now is the time to start. Once you become a Network member, you can take part in pretty much any activity or event arranged by the 237 Networks there are across the UK.

Scouting’s Northern Lights

Calling West Yorkshire Scout Network

We are looking for an enthusiastic team of Network Scouts to help us launch Scouting’s Northern Lights across the NE region.

Scouting’s Northern Lights is a fantastic arena event which we are planning for the summer of 2011 at the Sheffield Arena. The event promises to be an exciting way of promoting Scouting in the North of England.

In order to make this event successful we need to sell the concept of it to the counties of the NE region. These are

South Yorkshire
West Yorkshire
Central Yorkshire
North Yorkshire
Humberside
Cleveland
Durham
Newcastle.

We are looking to find a group of Network members who can form a road show team to help sell the event.

County Commissioners are deciding which date to give us to run the road show in their area. So far these are (with more to come)

North Yorkshire September 20th
South Yorkshire October 7th
CC Meeting October 10th
East Midlands November 7th
Cleveland November 15th

Limelight – A Summer Social Event!

Saturday 12th September 09 –7-7.30 till Late

The biggest WY Network event of the year is fast approaching, have you booked your place yet?!

Limelight is on Saturday 12th September from 7PM and is being held at Bradley Wood Campsite.

This ‘summer social’ event promises to be an excellent evening with a three course meal, live entertainment from party band ‘NYK’ and excellent company all for the bargain price of only £15!
